We had nice weather for running, cloudy and 50s throughout the day. Race started in the dark so headlamps through half of the first 20 mile lap. I got out good but was not holding liquid or food good as it would run right through me on both ends and I knew it was going to be a long day. I entered the USATF national championships race and another runner in my age group caught me half way through lap 3. I was running faster when running and he was faster powerhiking on hills but I put him away by the start of the last lap and was championship winner 55-59 and also 3 master overall 50-59 in the regular race. It wasn't my fastest race here but with the digestive troubles and continual nose running it was a successful grinder that I'm fortunate to finish.
