| Went down to lake Eufaula yesterday brought in New Year and got this morning and drove to the mountains. I wanted to preview some of the Ouachita switchbacks 50k course. Wife was waiting on me so I went an hour out and back in. Lots of rocks covered by leaves. Breaking 6 hours would be a good time for this course |

| Great day for a rocky technical hilly trail race. In the 40s no wind. I saw Ian before the race, he said he was sick for this one and that he would only be probably running 25k. It was almost all single track so the first part of the race was a little bunched up but after a couple miles and hills everyone was where they were supposed to be. I ran too hard to the first out and back which was 17.6 miles. I made it back to the start for this section in a little over 4 hours. Reloaded and I was off for the last 12 miles. There was a lot of this section that wasn't runnable. There was a mile that was down hill on a jeep road that I was cruising pretty good right before an ankle deep water crossing. There were a couple climbs for the 6 miles in that were littered with an ample amount of rocks. I finished about an hour slower than I wanted to but I'm nearing the end of another age group and 60 will be here sooner than later. No major damage going into RR100 here in a few weeks. |
