Georgia Death Race, I made it 48 of 68 miles. It required a 1 am wake up for the 90 minute bus ride to the start so I got zero sleep. I made a bathroom stop right after the start in the park so I got to the single track behind some real slow runners. My battery power on my Garmin was going fast so I turned the gps off at 26.2 miles, I had over 8000 ft of elevation gain. I saw my wife at 17 miles and made a shoe change to the Kinvaras, big mistake as they weren't enough to cushion the pounding I was taken. I also ran out of water in between a couple of aid stations after the fog burned off and coming down out of the mountains. My pack must of weighed 20 pounds with railroad spike and required gear. After I got through the toughest part of the course I ended up walking the keep roads that were down hill mostly. I met my wife at 48 miles and had enough hiking for the day so I dropped. |
