Personal:
Married to my wife Betty for over 30 years. My main run support as she really helps out on the 100 mile races. Retired from DoD, spent 4 years in the Marines
Last day in Woodward, OK, I got out early but was still warm and windy. I ran the back 9 of the Boiling Springs golf course and later played 18. Hamstring very tight and stiff, no more stretching for me.
Wife dropped me off early at the incline parking lot. The first half of the incline is steep but not intense. Strength of legs was never a problem it was my heart beating out of my chest. Some to do with elevation change the last 3rd of the incline was steep I passed quit a few people during this part. I took the Barr trail back down and ran back to the RV park to complete my run. It was a great time.
Wife and I drove over to the Garden of the Gods trails. She walked and I told her I would be back from running in about an hour. I was sore from the descent yesterday but got loosened up enough to run. The trails were up and down and well groomed. I tried to return to the car after a few miles but got lost and had to call the wife to come get me. But enjoyed the trails.
My attempt to go up and come back down Pikes Peak. I carried about 40 ounces of water but it wasn't enough. I aborted my attempt after 9 miles. I ran out of water on the way down but at the bottom of the mountain there's a natural spring geyser that spits out carbonated mineral water. I filled up a bottle for the jog back to the RV park. If I try this again next time I will have the ability to filter water with me.
I met Tony at his office and we drove over to a trail by the AF Academy for an easy out and back. It was great to catch up and run with Tony again. He was coming off running a marathon the previous weekend.
